This is great! Thanks for sharing your real-life experience, not the highlight reel. I too experienced some highs and lows in a series of Sprint Tri's that were only 3 weeks apart, from a flat tire right before the race to cramping during my swim to bike transition. Appreciate getting it out there, and prayers for your dad!
Thanks Hunter. It's funny, but this sport has great highs followed by bad lows and sometimes with no pause in between. When I got done with the bike, I knew I had put up a good time, faster even than I hoped for. So I was feeling pretty good about myself. Then I saw a high school kid from my church. His face was pink with exertion because he had just finished the whole thing. He asked me, "how'd you do?" and he meant on the whole thing, so I had to say, "I'm not done yet! I still have to run!" My confidence disappeared! :)
